In the center of Little Rock is a neighborhood now known as Midtown. Convenient to almost anywhere in town, it was originally developed in the 1940s. Here the most common type of home is a one-level ranch-style on a flat lot.
Midtown is adjacent to one of the city’s main arteries, University Avenue, home to Little Rock’s largest mall and a new Target store, with more shops and restaurants on the way. Midtowne Little Rock, a new open-air lifestyle center, is home to upscale restaurants and retailers, including Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Cantina Laredo and The Container Store. The area is also close to I-630 and two major medical centers, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and the St. Vincent Health System.
Also centrally located near Midtown are the popular neighborhoods of Hall High and Briarwood, both consisting of solidly-built, mid-century family homes, many of which have been updated. Hall High is named after a local school in the area, and is also home to the Catholic High School for Boys.
Prices in these neighborhoods range from $100,000 to $350,000, with the median at $160,000.
